Trout Trips
The Blue Ridge Mountains of central and southwest Virginia provide fly fishers with a unique variety of fly fishing experiences. While the native brook trout is the jewel of the mountains, wild rainbow and brown trout, along with the stocked versions of each of these, adorn the waters of the Blue Ridge. They can be found in the high-gradient freestone streams rolling down the mountains, spring creeks snaking through farm meadows, and cool running tailwaters.

The beginning fly fisher will find cutting their teeth on native brook trout to be a great way of learning the ropes. There can't be a more beautiful fish to make a first fly rod catch!

Spring and fall are the best times to wet a line in the high-gradient mountain streams, but often summer and winter trips can be productive, depending on water and weather conditions.
The premiere tailwater in Virginia, if not in the entire Mid-Atlantic region, is the Jackson River. The Jackson is known for its great wild brown trout fishery, but beautiful wild rainbows inhabit the river as well. Spend the day with us floating the Jackson for these naturalized fish. We can also arrange walk-in wade trips as well.
There is no better way to beat the fuss of everyday life, than to spend a day in the mountains with native brookies, or wild rainbows and browns. No cell phones, no distractions, no stress - just clean air and the sounds of bubbling water to soothe the soul.

For the experienced angler, a day in the mountains can mean trout aggressively taking dry flies, while honing his skills. Opportunities to learn more about entomology, a new cast, or a new trick will always present themselves.
