Fly Tying Instruction
There are many reasons to tie your own flies, the least of which is saving money. Fly tying is a great way to stay in touch with fly fishing, when you can’t be on the water. It will help you learn more about insects and the names of the flies that represent them. Also, you’ll be able to tie those flies that aren’t readily available at local your fly shop. Plus, there’s nothing more exciting than catching a fish on a fly you’ve tied with your own hands!
Our fly tying classes can be set up for any level of tyer. Beginners will learn the basics needed to tie flies, while learning patterns that they can immediately start catching fish on. Classes will be progressive in nature, so the tyer is learning new techniques each time. The more advance tyer may want to learn a new technique, or a specific fly or class of flies, like how to spin deer hair, wing wet flies, or hackle dry flies.

You'll need some basic tools for class. A good vise, thread bobbin, bobbin threader, and scissors will get you started. There are a few other tools that make life easier at the tying bench. We will provide a complete list, plus a list of resources, prior to class.

The price for the fly tying classes is $50 per person per four hour session (includes materials used at time of class). Price reflects classes done at our site. All classes are private, however, we can accommodate groups. A 50% deposit is required to reserve date. We accept checks, money orders, and can accept most major credit cards via PayPal.
Casting Classes
Learning to cast is hard, right? Not at all.

A two hour casting class will have you ready for the stream, river, or pond. We'll start with the basics on equipment, then teach you the forward and backcast and the false cast. To further prepare you for fishing situations, you'll learn how to control and mend your fly line, retrieve line, and set the hook. For the more advanced fly caster, we can teach you the rollcast and the single and double haul casts, and other tricks to make you a better caster.
We make our classes fun and informative. We love to teach, and our classes are structured so that you'll have fun and remember the techniques each time you pick up your fly rod.

The price for the casting classes is $40 per person per two hour session. Price reflects classes done at our site. All classes are private, however, we can accommodate groups. A 50% deposit is required to reserve date. We accept checks, money orders, and can accept most major credit cards via PayPal.
