Bug Fisher Project Healing Waters

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying education and outings.

While debts such as these can never be repaid, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHW) allows us an opportunity to show our appreciation for our service men and women that are sacrificing so much for us. As fellow fly fishers and fly tyers, we know the spiritual aspects our sport can bring to our lives. PHW is about sharing that spirituality, along with the physical activity, to aid in the rehabilitation of these Wounded Warriors.

Chris Rowland was chosen to be the new PHW coordinator for the Roanoke region this past spring. As coordinator, Chris will be planning activities and events for the Wounded Warriors at the Roanoke VA Hospital. There will be bi-monthly "fishing nights" at the Salem VA pond, which has bass and sunfish. Chris is working with the VDGIF to get the pond stocked with trout.

So far, the "fishing nights" have been a success. The Wounded Warriors are catching lots of sunfish and bass, while learning the art of fly fishing.

This Fall, we will be having fly tying lessons for those interested.
